Public Markets Investing

We invest in global equity markets. Our investing philosophy is rooted in deep conviction, intellectual rigor, and long-term alignment with enduring business quality. We deploy capital in global listed equities through a structured, research-intensive process that leverages our proprietary insights, robust networks, and a disciplined investment framework designed to compound capital sustainably across market cycles.

Long-Term Orientation with Mid-Term Agility

We invest with a multi-year time horizon, seeking businesses with structural growth potential, enduring moats, and superior capital allocation. However, we remain agile in the mid-term—actively revisiting theses, reassessing risks, and taking advantage of dislocations, while staying anchored in long-term fundamentals.

Rigorous, Bottom-Up Fundamental Research

We go beyond surface-level metrics to deconstruct:

Financial DNA

We analyze detailed financial statements over multi-year periods to uncover trends in margins, cash flows, reinvestment efficiency, and capital allocation.

Historical Context

Understanding how a business evolved – strategic pivots, leadership transitions, and responses to adversity – provides insight into its resilience and adaptability.

Secret Sauce

We seek to identify the intangible drivers of success -unique processes, cultural edge, operating discipline, orfounder-led vision – that competitors cannot easily replicate.

Right to Win

We evaluate a company’s sustainable competitive advantage within its ecosystem—its position in the value chain, pricing power, switching costs, and control of customer access.

d. Global Perspective, Local Insight

Our global mandate enables us to invest wherever the risk-reward is most compelling. However, we recognize that real understanding requires local insight. We actively tap into our global network of thought leaders, former operators, and domain specialists to build nuanced views of industries, geographies, and companies.

Risk Discipline and Capital Preservation

Capital preservation is foundational. We avoid businesses with opaque accounting, unproven models, or excessive leverage. We demand a clear path to profitability and resilience under stress scenarios. Risk is not just volatility—it’s the risk of permanent capital impairment. We build our positions with thoughtful sizing, margin-of-safety pricing, and a balanced portfolio construction approach. Our north star is asymmetry—favorable upside with controlled downside.

Private markets investing

Our approach to private market investments is anchored in disciplined capital allocation, strategic alignment, and long-term value creation. While we recognise the transformative potential of early-stage ventures and private companies, we pursue these opportunities with a deeply conservative lens, prioritising capital preservation and sustainable growth over aggressive risk-taking.

We selectively invest in a limited number of early-stage ventures where we see a strong alignment with our values, vision, and capabilities. Each investment is thoroughly evaluated not just for its financial promise, but for the strength of its founding team, the clarity of its business model, and its potential for long-term scalability.

To safeguard our capital and add meaningful value, we typically join the boards of these companies, working closely with founders as strategic partners. Our active involvement enables us to provide mentorship, governance oversight, and direct access to our wider business network, helping these ventures navigate their critical growth phases.

To date, we have made three early-stage investments, each reflecting our philosophy of high-conviction, low-volume, and deeply involved participation. As we continue to expand our private market portfolio, our focus remains on businesses where our strategic support can catalyse measurable impact and where our capital is respected as patient, purposeful, and disciplined.

Investment in and turn-around of stress assets

At RSPN, we take a solutions-first approach to investing in stressed assets – focusing on revival, value unlocking, and long-term stability. We actively evaluate opportunities under IBC/NCLT and pre-CIRP frameworks, seeking viable businesses facing temporary disruption due to operational, structural, or financial challenges. Our team conducts detailed diligence, formulates turnaround strategies, and engages with stakeholders to craft resolution plans that are not only commercially sound but also execution – ready. Our goal is to bring these assets back to life and position them for a strategic exit that maximizes value for all parties involved.

Our experience spans sectors and stages – from resolution planning to operational restructuring. We’ve successfully submitted a resolution plan for a Chennai-based socks manufacturing facility and created a detailed business revival roadmap for a starch and derivatives plant in Maharashtra at the OTS (One-Time Settlement) stage. We maintain strict investment discipline – evident in our decision to pass on a Stage 3 stressed brewery after rigorous analysis. At RSPN, stressed asset investment isn’t about distressed value play alone; it’s about identifying what can be fixed, fixing it, and building sustainable outcomes.
